Festive pumpkins take center stage in this darling table runner. Machine applique is done easily using a lightweight fusible to secure pieces before applique. Pumpkin stems are created using floss and a simple embroidery stitch. Wrap these pumpkins up in a cute border print and sew this project together in a very unique way. Whether you choose a soft palette or a bold one, you won't want to miss to out this great project!
Class Registration: $69
Supplies Needed for Class:
- Sewing machine
- Class pattern (purchase from instructor in class - $3)
- Open toe or zig zag presser foot
- 1 spool neutral cream thread & thread for blanket stitch around pumpkins-see photo to see where you will machine applique. Contrast or no contrast. Your choice OR if you prefer not to see the applique, bring a spool of monofilament thread.
- Bobbins- one wound with your neutral thread & one in applique thread color
- Small scissors for cutting out shapes and/or embroidery scissors
- 8 ½” square ruler*
- Straight ruler*
- Blue wash away pen*
- Floss for stems & embroidery needle*
- Thread heaven – wax for floss*
- Basic sewing supplies (straight pins and pin cushion, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marking pen or pencil, small cutting mat (no larger than 12x18), and a rotary cutter)
* If you have a friend coming with you to class these items can be easily shared
Fabric:
- Background for pumpkins: 1/4 yd
- Print for outer triangles: 1/4 yd
- Print for border & leaves: 1/4 yd
- 2 pumpkin fabrics for pumpkins: Fat eighth of each color
- Stem fabric: 10” x 10” piece
- Lightweight fusible web: 5/8 yd (preferred Soft Fuse by Shades textiles 8” x 9” sheets - perfect weight)
- Backing: 5/8 yd
- Batting: 20 x 34 piece
- Optional—Applique pressing sheet -- I will have one available
