In a bind when it comes to binding a quilt? This workshop will arm you with ideas to help finish your quilts with flair! We'll highlight binding basics and solve the mystery of that elusive final seam. We'll try some fun alternative finishes such as scallops, prairie points, "invisible" faced binding, faux-piping, and even chenille! Learn tricks to master scalloped or curvy edges, odd-agled inside and outside corners, and more! Class will conclude
with a mini trunk show of prize-winning, fabulous finishes.
Class Registration: $69
Supplies Needed for Class:
- Sewing machine
- Washable glue stick
- Sharp scissors that clip to the tip
- Book: Ultimate Binding & Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting & Sewing by Deonn Stott, $16.99, Purchase at www.QuiltscapesQS.com or in class
- Recommended: Pinking Shears
- Basic sewing supplies (straight pins and pin cushion, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marking pen or pencil, small cutting mat (no larger than 12x18), and a rotary cutter)
Fabric:
- KIT, $18 (Optional—order from instructor). Precut kit includes quilted placemat and sample strip, plus coordinating fabrics as listed below.
- Quilted Fabric: 1/3 yard. Purchase pre-quilted fabric, OR sandwich a layer of thin batting between two fat quarters, then baste the edges and machine-stitch to quilt the fabric.
- Print A: 1/2 yard coordinating small print, tone on tone print or solid to match the quilted fabric.
- Print B: 1/4 yard coordinating/contrasting solid color (dyed, not printed)
