This design, inspired by a charming antique “Shoemaker’s Puzzle” quilt from the 1840’s, creates dimension and movement using simple straight-seam construction and a play of contrasting values. This design works well with pre-cut 10-inch squares or fat quarters in a two-color or scrappy layout. Join Deonn as she shares her top tips for "practically perfect" foundation paper-piecing to achieve precise and pretty points.
Class Registration: $69
Supplies Needed for Class:
- Sewing machine
- Glue stick
- Zircon Crystals pattern - Purchase at Quiltscapes Etsy Shop or in class
- Recommended: 12" Add-a-Quarter ruler by CM Designs. May order from instructor.
- Basic sewing supplies (straight pins and pin cushion, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marking pen or pencil, small cutting mat (no larger than 12x18), and a rotary cutter)
Fabrics:
- Main Print or Color: 2-5/8 yards total cut 32 @ 10" squares (OR 8 Fat Quarters cut into fourths, OR 1 10-inch stacker - use 32 @ 10" precut squares)
- Background or Contrast Print: 2-5/8 yards cut 32 @ 10" squares
- Binding: 5/8 yard
- Backing: 3-3/4 yards
