Fossil Preparation
Do the work of a paleontologist as you prepare a fish fossil. Take your fossil home with you when it has been completed. Jr. Paleontologists will try their hand at uncovering fossil fish using an air scribe and techniques common to the art of fossil preparation. Recommended for ages 6 and older.
(Museum staff assistance will be provided. Parental assistance is also welcome.)

Available Saturdays and Holidays from 11:00-7:00
$6 Per Person
$3 for members.

Museum admission not included.

Molding & Casting
Make a cast of a dinosaur fossil to take home. Using rubber molds and Plaster of Paris, guests can copy one of three fossils featured in the main exhibit halls. Recommended for ages 3 and older.
(Museum staff assistance will be provided, and parental assistance is welcome.)

Oceans: Our Blue Planet - Mammoth Screen Movie

Museum of Ancient Life Birthday Parties
Choose between two amazing parties!

DinoMite Party: For the aspiring paleontologist or dinosaur lover a Dino-Mite party is sure to cause a roar of excitement! Explore one of the world’s largest dinosaur museums through the eyes of a scientist. Excavate your own dinosaur, make plaster casts, and dig-in to dinosaur life.
This party includes:
  • Fossil molding and casting activity
  • Tour of the museum
  • Trilobite dig in our quarry (dependent on age and weather)

    Lego Party: Our Lego Party transports you into the future as you play, construct, create and innovate. Be a robotics engineer as you use your imagination to design and build with Lego WeDO 2.0 robotics! Perfect for kids ages 7-10, this party can host a max of 12 kids.

  • Turtle Odyssey - Mammoth Screen Movie
    TURTLE ODYSSEY - Sea Turtles are some of Earth’s most ancient and majestic creatures. For over 100 million years, they have traversed the seas, surviving multiple mass extinctions and playing critical roles in maintaining healthy, marine food webs. Not only do these friendly animals captivate us as they peacefully glide through the ocean, but their personal journeys of survival are equally fascinating.

    Volcanoes - Mammoth Screen Movie
    Earth is a planet born of fire. For billions of years, volcanoes have helped forge the world we know. From the continents to the air we breathe and even life itself, all have been shaped by volcanic energy. These processes have created extraordinary ecosystems and wildlife habitats. With over 500 active volcanoes, the Earth is bursting at the seams with these forces of mass construction. The story of volcanoes is the story of the planet’s creation and the story of us. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats as they discover molten worlds and exploding craters in this adrenaline-filled, immersive experience.

    See it all with an Explorer Pass! A Thanksgiving Point Explorer Pass grants admission into all five venues (Museum of Natural Curiosity, Farm County, Museum of Ancient Life, Butterfly Biosphere and Ashton Gardens (Closed Seasonally). Available for purchase at any venue or Guest Information (including day-of).

    Museum of Ancient Life Admissions
    Roam among the dinosaurs, explore a Carboniferous Forest, and dive deep into a Cretaceous Ocean at the Museum of Ancient Life. Come visit one of the world’s largest displays of mounted dinosaurs with 60 complete dinosaur skeletons in our galleries, along with more than 50 hands-on exhibits. This is the destination to enjoy learning about our pre-historic animals, playing with toy dinosaurs in the Erosion Table, and digging for fossils in the quarry dig.
