Technique - Using AccuQuilt dies (provided in the class) to cut fabric, accurate piecing with traditional piecing methods, chain piecing, tips for achieving precise points, and using color value placement. (Foundation paper piecing techniques will not be covered in this class).

Have you ever wanted to try a Flying Swallows quilt block but weren’t sure where to start? This class is a great way to build confidence with this classic block while creating a stunning project. Using the AccuQuilt GO! Flying Swallows Die to create the Spinning Swallows Mini Quilt (36” x 36”), we’ll cut pieces quickly and accurately. Along the way, we’ll discuss piecing tips, maintaining accurate 1/4” seams, and using color value and placement for interest and contrast. For those who want to go bigger, an expanded 72” x 72” version of the pattern will be available separately through Chantelle Bailey Design. This version includes printable paper templates and a foundation paper piecing (FPP) option, with acrylic templates also available for purchase—perfect for those who want a larger quilt.

 

Class Registration: $75

Supplies:
- Sewing Machine, Foot Pedal, 1/4” Foot
- Extra Needles (70/10 of 80/12 Microtex Sharp Needles))
- (Optional but recommended) Stiletto Clapper
- Printed or digital copy of the Spinning Swallows Table Topper pattern free at AccuQuilt.com (*alternative pattern for larger quilt can be purchased online at Chantelle Bailey Shop on Etsy)
- AccuQuilt dies (available for classroom use) for those wishing to maximize their sewing time in class, it is recommended to purchase the optional precut kit
- Basic Sewing Supplies (straight pins and pin cushion, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marking pen or pencil, small cutting mat (no larger than 12x18), and a rotary cutter)

Fabric Requirements* (36” x 36”):
- Light (in nine colors) 1/4 yd
- Medium-Light (in nine colors) 1/8 yd
- Medium-Dark (in nine colors) 1/4 yd
- Dark (in nine colors) 1/8 yd

Fabric Requirements* (72” x 72”):
- Light (in nine colors) 1/3 yd
- Medium-Light (in nine colors) 1/8 yd
- Medium-Dark (in nine colors) 1/3 yd
- Dark (in nine colors) 1/4 yd

*Pre-starching your fabric before class is highly recommended. It adds stability to the material and helps you achieve more precise, accurate cuts and prevents the fabric from stretching, distorting, or fraying while you work.

Recommended fabric colors are in Confetti Cotton Solids by Riley Blake Designs from lightest to darkest:
- Red Block: Ballerina, Grapefruit, Sunset, Dahlia Red
- Pink Block: Champagne Pink, Pink Dogwood, Peony, Riley Hot Pink
- Orange Block: Shell, Riley Melon, Papaya, Autumn
- Yellow Block: Sorbet, Sunshine, Riley Yellow, Golden
- Green Block: Misty, Spring Green, Lucky, Forest
- Teal Block: Misty, Sweet Mint, Vivid, Poseidon
- Aqua Block: Bleached Denim, Riley Aqua, Azure, Lagoon
- Blue Block: Powder, Boy Blue, Riley Medium Blue, Riley Royal Blue
- Purple Block: Princess, Crocus, Orchid, Riley Dark Purple
